Sold by the bag, these Japanese Cheeto’s are a whole lot like the ones that we grew up eating, only they come in flavors that you just can’t get over here.  The two options you have are:

How It’s Packaged

We always love seeing ultra-familiar branding with an international twist, as the novelty factor is high.  The Japanese writing juxtaposed with the iconic Cheeto’s logo and mascot draws you in right away, along with the bright colors which are very on-point when it comes to much of Japanese marketing.

Now, one thing you do need to keep in mind is that none of the writing on these bags is in English – after all, this is an imported product made in Japan.  So, unless you happen to know how to read in Japanese, you’ll be out of luck when it comes to understanding the information on the can, like the ingredients list.

Insane Flavors

As we’re sure you can imagine, we couldn’t resist trying both flavors – after all, each one is something we’ve never had before.  Let’s start with Japanese steak.  You get a major burst of umami flavor along with the familiar cheesiness, and there’s a slight sweetness that is in line with a lot of Japanese seasoning and marinades.  Overall, the flavor is killer, and we recommend it highly.

Then, we have the turkey flavor – now, this is one that we weren’t sure about until we actually tasted it.  It turns out that the combo of savory cheddar and roasted turkey hits the spot, and while we like the Japanese Steak more out of the two, this one is totally delicious.
